On Friday, August 5, Middlesex Sheriff Peter J. Koutoujian will proudly recognize the Arlington, Medford, Belmont, and Somerville graduates of the 2011 Middlesex Sheriff’s Office Youth Public Safety Academy.

The Sheriff will hold a ceremony at the Middlesex Sheriff’s Office Training Academy in Billerica, honoring the children from these communities. The cadets, ages 9 – 11, will be given diplomas in recognition of their hard work and dedication to public safety.

The Academy exposes our children to role models in Public Safety, namely their local Police, Fire, Emergency Medical Services, and Sheriff’s personnel. Cadets learn basic first aid skills, fire safety, tour their local police and fire stations, participate in numerous demonstrations, and are taught the importance of self-esteem and teamwork.

If you would like to visit the Academy during the week, or for more information please contact Michael Hartigan, Public Information Officer, at 781-960-2800 or visit the Web site: www.middlesexsheriff.com.
