In the early morning of Saturday, December 3, 2011, an unknown number of subjects forcibly opened a Bank of America ATM located at 26 High Street, Medford, MA.   After defeating most of the multiple, complex security precautions, they forced open the ATM and removed all of the cash, stealing slightly more than $200,000.

The ATM is a stand-alone kiosk located inside a building that is currently being renovated.   The only finished area of the building is the vestibule where the ATM is located.   It is unknown how the thieves gained entrance to the building.

The FBI and Medford Police are seeking tips from anyone who saw suspicious activity in or around the building from 11:00 pm on Friday, December 2, 2011 through 6:00 am on Saturday, December 3, 2011.

Information is also being sought regarding individuals who have exhibited both the following behavior and characteristics:  Anyone who is knowledgeable about ATMs, alarm and telecommunications systems, whose routine changed or was absent from their home or work on the night of the theft, who unexpectedly possessed a large amount of cash after the theft, and provided vague or illogical reasons regarding the origin of the money.

There are no surveillance photos of the subjects and the physical descriptions of the subjects are unknown.

Bank of America is offering a $15,000 reward and the FBI is offering an additional $5,000 reward for information leading to the charging and arrest of those allegedly responsible for the burglary.  Anyone with information regarding this burglary is asked to call the FBI at (617) 742-5533 or the Medford Police Department at (781) 393-4700.
