The Somerville News Person of the Week, Joe Beckmann.

Meet Joe Beckmann, a nice guy and very congenial when you first meet him, not knowing he can talk for hours on end.  He’s someone we met about year or so ago, even though our paths have crossed many times over the years. He’s very smart, has three degrees from Columbia, Brown and University of Massachusetts Amherst. He works here in Somerville as a teacher, and although he never had to say what he does for a living, you can tell he loves his job as a teacher, which for him is giving knowledge and light to those around him.

We asked about Joe, who, by the way, comes to us from Illinois where he grew up, and then many years ago came to Somerville. He’s been involved politically. There is no second-guessing this guy, he’s straight out of the very liberal box and there’s nothing wrong with that. We hear that he is very passionate about various causes and that’s always a good thing. Joe Beckmann is not just smart, he’s a nice guy along with many other fine qualities we’re told he has. We think if you know him, you’ll attest to the fact he’s all this and more. If you don’t know him and if you see him feel free to approach him, don’t be bashful. He’s a great conversationalist. Oh, and by the way, he’s got a laugh that you won’t forget. We think he makes for a good candidate for Person of the Week here in Somerville.
