A report of an assault brought police to the vicinity of Taylor and Dane Streets last Tuesday morning.

Responding officers were told by the alleged victim that as he was crossing the street a car stopped short at the crosswalk and that a heated verbal exchange ensued between himself and the driver of the vehicle.

The alleged victim reportedly told police that he was spat at by the vehicle’s driver during the confrontation. As the suspect drove away the alleged victim reportedly shouted out to him that he had seen by his uniform that he was a Parking Control officer, that he had taken down his license plate number, and that he would be calling police to make a complaint.

The suspect reportedly drove a short distance up Dane Street and pulled into a parking lot, then turned his vehicle to face out into the street.

The alleged victim, a 61-year-old man, accompanied by his son, who had reportedly witnessed the incident, then walked over and stood in front of the suspect’s vehicle, waiting for police to arrive.

More words were exchanged and the suspect reportedly bumped the alleged victim with his vehicle a number of times, according to victim and witness testimony. The alleged victim’s son, who had phoned in the complaint to police, had reportedly taken footage of the alleged assaults with his cell phone. Police have reportedly retrieved the digital footage.

Other witnesses to the incident have corroborated the alleged victim’s testimony, police said.

Anthony P. Silvestri was placed under arrest and charged with assault with a dangerous weapon.

MA law. pedestrian in the crosswalk has the right of way, regardless of the light color. if the pedestrian is jaywalking, they may be subject to a penalty, but they still have the right of way. sounds like this freaking weirdo had a reighn of terror going back a long time. somerville ain’t bad, but there are 5,000 goons like him working for the T. i hope they’re next.

    reminds me of a story.

about 2005 i was walking past one of the buildings over the diesel/ mcdonalds block, wearing dusty work clothes. some goon came screeching at me to explain a vehicle full of sheetrock debris which had zero to do with me. i asked who he was ( don’t know why i cared) and he literally screamed “I”‘M THE BUILDING INSPECTOR”. to this day i regret
i did not say” “you haven’t got the b*lls to put a stop work order on this job, and trucks will be filled with asbestos, plutonium, or dead animals for the next six months. .. you are to cowardly to do anything about it!”

however i only thought of it an hour later. oh well. he woulda had some ‘splainin to do when he went off at the property owner.

somerville is the last place I would walk across a street …light or no lights.

Monty a red pedstrian light at a cross walk is jay walking!

Cambridge has a problem with jay hooking Im sure somerville does too. Jay hooking …a car lines up to a bike or pedestrian center position and makes a legal shape right turn. The pedestrian gets out into the street waiting.
