Sunset on the banks of a lazy river is the All-American way to relax on a hot September day. And Somerville residents were able to experience their ambling Mystic River at the second Riverfest on Saturday.
Families came to the event sponsored by the Federal Reality Investment Trust in anticipation for the development of Assembly Row, to enjoy face-painting, an enormous castle moonwalk and tricks onstage by “Professor” Danny Haste. At evening, a fireworks show lit up the sky.
EkOngKar Singh Khalsa, executive director of the Mystic River Watershed Association was on hand, and spoke optimistically of the rivers recreational future. “[This development] will create a lot more interest in the river, because there will be a lot more access and as people spend more time near the river… they become more invested in the health of the river.”

OK, but what is Assembly Row?
I know the issues. I have spent time to dedicated to the important roles regarding not only davis sq but assembly sq.
I dont believe that we should be playing cha cha with this project. All the fun and games are over!
We need to stop holding all these community events (that produce a minimal presance) and start looking at ways to conserve money!
This administration is on a spending spree. How do you increase health care on retirees and strong arm the unions into expecting them to do more with less? This administation is on a “Mystery Shopping Spree”!
The bonding is outa control!
The taxes and fee’s are outa control!
The parking tickets and trash removal fines are starting to get foolish!
I dont care about sidewalks, curbs, and paving!
I care about schools, (which are sub-par), taxes, and public safety!
THe Sunsetters also performed at Riverfest !
