A family disturbance report was investigated by police officers at 22 Quincy St. in the early hours of last Sunday.

Officers arrived at the scene to find about 10 individuals gathered outside the residence arguing loudly, police said.

The officers were told that one of the family members had fled the scene prior to their arrival, and that she might be carrying a knife.

The woman, Stephanie Varela, 21, returned to the scene, but reportedly refused their request to allow a search of her handbag.

Varela was then restrained by officers as a safety measure, while she reportedly swore at and threatened her parents.

A friend of Varela’s arrived and offered to take her home, police said, and Varela agreed and began to walk away.

She turned back, though, and began yelling at her parents once again, according to reports.

Police then arrested Varela on a charge of disorderly conduct.
